With the news surrounding the coronavirus, it is important to be informed about what it is and how to prevent it. According to World Health Organization, coronaviruses are a family of viruses that can strike as the common cold or more severely as respiratory diseases. Symptoms include shortness of breath, coughing, and fever and can begin within two weeks of initial contact to the virus.
Protecting Yourself from the Spread of Viruses
The best advice World Health Organization gives to protect yourself is to wash your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitizer, being careful to avoid contacting dirty hands with your face, eyes and mouth. You can protect others when coughing and sneezing by covering your mouth and nose with either your arm or a tissue. In addition, clean your hands when caring for the sick or handling raw and cooked food, keep a safe 6 feet distance from others in public, use gloves when possible, and seek a health care provider if symptoms of fever, cough, and difficulty breathing occur. Single-use masks, which are often government-mandated, may provide limited protection and are useful if worn tightly and to keep you from touching your face. If you are sick or think you may be, visit a healthcare professional, seek testing and stay home.
Try to be mindful of any surfaces that you come in contact with. In busy public spaces or when you are traveling, door handles, kiosks and arm rests are places that can be overlooked for carrying germs and bacteria. Carry sanitizing wipes with you and wipe any counters, door knobs, touch screens, arm rests, airplane seats and food trays to protect yourself.

In part with keeping up with the industry demands and the current environment, My Cleaning Service is offering an extended disinfectant program. In addition to our base services, we are purchasing a new cleaning product that we have researched will be useful in further disinfecting surfaces that receive the most hands-on traffic in the workspace and protect surfaces for hours after services have completed. This includes the disinfecting of door knobs, faucets, elevator buttons, conference rooms, etc. The service involves the new cleaning product with extra time taken to thoroughly clean those hard surfaces that come into increased contact with germs and bacteria.
