My Cleaning Service is Here for You

To all of our clients and our community in Maryland, My Cleaning Service is pleased to serve you as an essential business during these times as the affects of COVID-19 impact the globe. The cleaning industry has more importance than ever and we recognize the growing demands that we must commit to to ensure we continue our jobs safely. That also means we want to share with you how you can also stay protected during the virus pandemic.

Our mission is to clean for the health and protection of people and the environment. We have been disinfecting and protecting in Maryland for 50 years! Now, we are taking more steps in offering full disinfection services and communicating that we remain open and our expert staff is still committed to continue what we are passionate about providing: commercial cleaning services. It is also important that you assist your cleaning company by informing your employees on how to stay safe and how they can prevent the spread of infectious diseases so that our staff is safe as well.

Health & Safety Training

There are a lot of resources out there for prevention against COVID-19. Some of our favorites include:

Among these sources, there are free poster guides, health tips and training guides on how to protect your workplace. Of course, many companies are providing paid training via online courses as well and you should consider what works best for your business. There are ways to save by being a member to specific programs and exclusive content. Subscribe only to cleaning companies that are trusted with science-backed research and an accredited reputation. Be wary of companies that are now claiming to provide cleaning services as they will most likely not provide the same safe level of cleaning and disinfection that professionals in the industry have been trained to do for decades.

Prevention

The contraction of COVID-19 occurs within close proximity and direct contact to respiratory droplets and surfaces containing the infection. It is for the protection of yourself and public health to follow these ISSA recommended steps to be actively aiding in the prevention of the spread of coronavirus and other infection diseases:

  • Wash your hands often with antibacterial soap for 30 seconds. Use 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer where you don’t have access to soap and water.
  • Do not touch your face (eyes, nose and mouth) with unwashed hands.
  • Cover coughs with your elbow or a tissue. Dispose of the tissue and wash you hands.
  • Distance yourself from others by 6 feet and specifically avoid close contact with anyone who is sick.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces with the most hands-on contact (doorknobs, counters, electronics, handles, etc.).
  • Outside of essential business work and buying necessities, stay home, especially if you are sick.

The CDC shares advice for use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) here. You will also find OSHA standards to use in your workplace, and ways to share training and safety procedures to your employees via their webpage as well. The CDC states that the risk of exposure to cleaning staff is inherently low, however, recommends cleaners wear disposable gloves and gowns and wash their hands frequently.

Safe Use of Chemicals

My Cleaning Service chooses to protect the environment with our process and cleaning practices; therefore, the chemicals we have selected are environmentally preferable and have less negative impact on human health. We train our staff in proper and green use of handling and diluting chemicals for application.  Disinfectants are important to protect people from viruses and bacteria the can spread throughout a building. Our disinfections are EPA-approved and hospital grade to ensure that organisms are killed on the surface.

In the professional industry, all disinfections used should be Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved because they are proven to disinfect against viral pathogens. Your cleaning label will tell you whether it is EPA-approved or not. To avoid mixing chemicals, follow all label instructions correctly and use chemicals that are already concentrated for their intended purpose. The EPA provides a list of EPA-registered disinfectants for use against SARS-CoV-2 on their website.
